Hivelocity Incorporates XO Communications into Expanding Network

📅 - Hivelocity, a fast-growing IaaS provider, now offers access to its data center through an advanced, high-speed IP transit connection to the XO Communications (XO) network. Hivelocity selected XO based on its analysis that XO would provide end-users online performance improvement.

As a result of the new connection with XO, customers can now access the Hivelocity data center via eight diverse transit providers at a minimum information rate of 10 Gbps. Customers can also access the Hivelocity data center through hundreds of public and private peers throughout North America.

XO owns and operates one of the largest and most reliable networks in the United States and can provide access to more than 50 countries worldwide. XO is one of the most powerful IP networks in the world according to the Renesys Baker's Dozen report which ranks the top 13 transit providers based on global performance. The Hivelocity network now incorporates six of the baker's dozen providers.

Network diversity is fundamental to the Hivelocity strategy in support of its customer base that spans more than 130 countries. XO joins Level 3, GTT, NTT, Comcast and Cogent on the Hivelocity IRP (Noction) blended network.

“We have customers from all over the world, so having a network that performs well around the globe is essential,” said Hivelocity Senior Network Engineer, Dan Protich. “By adding our eighth transit provider in addition to peering with over 300 networks in Los Angeles, Miami and Atlanta, we continue to shave milliseconds off transit time and reduce hops for our customers. The moment we turned up XO we saw close to 2,000 IP prefixes take an improved route. We will continue to research both peering locations and transit providers that will provide the most benefit to our customers.”

“XO Communications is pleased to provide an alternative connection to the innovative Hivelocity data center through our advanced IP network,” said Jake Heinz, senior vice president, marketing and product at XO Communications. “Our comprehensive network reach and high-throughput capabilities complement the Hivelocity objective to provide the ultimate user experience.”
