Dec, 2014 : Nashville Could Be Google’s Next Fiber City

📅 - Google's high-speed Internet service could be coming to Nashville as the tech giant has recently applied for a certificate of franchise authority with the state of Tennessee.

According to BGR, Google will “begin to offer video service for purchase or provide new broadband Internet service” within 24 months of the date of issuance.

In a email, Fiber spokeswoman Kelly Mason issued the following statement to the Nashville Business Journal:

“Nashville has been great to work with as we've explored bringing Google Fiber to the city, and this franchise agreement is an important next step. There's still a lot of work to do beyond this agreement, but we hope to provide an update about whether we can bring Fiber to Nashville by the end of the year.”

The tech giant will bring Google Fiber to three other cities such as Kansas City, Provo, and Austin, adding faster Internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. Google previously announced that they intend to bring Fiber to 34 different cities in 9 metropolitan areas such as San Antonio, Phoenix, Atlanta, Portland, San Jose, and Charlotte.
