Nov, 2014 : Elon Musk In Talks To Create Internet Satellites
📅 - Entrepreneur Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors, has partnered with former Google executive Greg Wyler to create satellites that could deliver Internet access across the world.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Musk and Wyler have been discussing plans to send 700 satellites into space, each weighing less than 250 pounds, costing more than $1 billion to develop.
Sources familiar with the matter have noted that both men are in talks to build factories in Florida and Colorado to construct the satellites.
The WSJ noted that the project is in early stages and not yet certain if Musk will follow through with his intentions.
Other companies such as Google and Facebook are also working on plans to deliver Internet access to remote parts of the world with balloons, drones, and satellites.
