GoDaddy Launches New Dedicated and VPS Servers With Added [...]

📅 October 31, 2014 - Web hosting service provider GoDaddy announced last week that they would be offering new dedicated and virtual private servers with added levels of support for Web designers and developers, which include on-demand technical support, quick set up, and the ability for real-time changes.

GoDaddy Senior Vice-President and General Manger of Web Hosting Jeff King stated that the new service is being added in order to add more support for businesses who struggle to manage more than one website at a time for multiple clients.

“Web developers and designers are critical to the success of GoDaddy. We are doing everything we can to learn about how to better meet their needs as well as their client's needs,” said King. “These new products are a direct result of many conversations with our customers. We know there is a lot more work that needs to be done – this is just the beginning.”

With the help of Los-Angeles based web hosting and cloud services company Media Temple, designers and developers will be given the additional level of support needed. GoDaddy acquired Media Temple in 2013 as a way to focus on the creative workings of digital designers, developers, and innovators. The company's hosting professionals offer GoDaddy insight and knowledge on how to better serve industry professionals and developers.

GoDaddy pointed out that all employees will be required to be product certified before helping customers in order to ensure that all customer receive knowledgeable and timely service when needed, says a press release from the Scottsdale-based company. GoDaddy is focused on showing designers and developers that they are “speaking their language.”

“We serve millions of websites and we want to make it as turnkey as possible,” added King. “With our fully-managed hosting, anything you need, we'll do it for you. At the opposite end is self-managed hosting. They got it and they just want to run their own and let us leave them alone.”

GoDaddy is focused on customer feedback and making changes, which is why when asked customers about who built their websites, 50-60 percent said someone else had designed it for them. There are many different types of website professionals such as freelancers, sole proprietors, tech developers and designers, and then agencies that specialize in website development. The company noted that they are actively engaged with the community whether through Twitter, Reddit, or WordCamp, they participate with developers.

“We think more than half of small businesses use somebody else to build out their websites,” continued King. “GoDaddy's mission is to help radically shift the global economy for small businesses. In order to achieve that mission we have to serve the companies that are serving those small businesses. We want to make sure we are serving them very, very well.”

GoDaddy will offer its new services and plans through GoDaddy Pro, a new website launched last this week that is geared towards “tech-savvy developers and designers who need more detailed product information.” With Pro, hosting services are up to 85% off, with a managed WordPress plan starting as low as $1 a month, web hosting plan with cPanel starting at $3.49 a month, and managed VPS starting at $29.99 a month. Their Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated Servers are powered by Fedora, Windows, and CentOS, which also uses cPanel and Plesk control panels. Each of the new plans support services such as root access, disaster recovery, OS patching, staging, and cloning. A streamlines check-out process is also provided for fast and efficient entry and exit so that designers and developers can focus on their customers.

Additionally, GoDaddy Pro offers its clients Linux plans, starting at $29.99 for 1GB of RAM, going all the way to 8GB RAM starting at $139.99 a month. The hosting company works with well-established companies such as WordPress, cPanel, Ubuntu, and SiteLock, to deliver the most web hosting needs to its customers.

“There's a lot more coming that will really focus on this market,” King said. “We want to serve developers and designers very, very well and treat them in a way that will serve their needs. We want to give them the tools and technology. There's a lot more coming down the pipe that is going to be very cool.”
