Oct, 2014 : Microsoft Launches Azure Cloud Services In Australia

📅 - Microsoft has launched its cloud service, Azure, in Australia through a data center in Melbourne and anther in Sydney, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

In a recent interview, Microsoft executive vice president of cloud and enterprise Scott Guthrie stated that Australian users would be able to start using the service starting October 27th.

Guthrie noted that Azure is now available in 19 different global regions, noting that it's “almost twice as many as AWS and six times as many as Google.”

He added that the new space, which is enough for around 600,000 servers in every region, is enough to keep prices low.

“That gives us the economics of scale to keep cutting prices to you,” said Guthrie, adding that all the “capabilities in Microsoft cloud ultimately enables enterprises, startups, and ISVs to basically be familiar with whatever tools they're already familiar with and build solutions using them. “
