Hackers Charged With Stealing More Than $100 Million In Data From Microsoft and U.S. Army

📅 - Four hackers have been charged with breaking into Microsoft and the U.S. Army's computer system, stealing more than $100 million in “intellectual property.”

According to The Guardian, the four men reportedly stole simulator software for the Boeing Apache helicopter form the Army's networks, Xbox technology, and various pre-release copies of games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Gears of War 3.

The Department of Justice noted that two of the hackers, 22 and 28, plead guilty earlier today to conspiracy to commit computer fraud, copyright infringement, wire fraud, mail fraud, identity theft, and theft of trade secrets, Ubergizmo reports.

“These were extremely sophisticated hackers… Don't be fooled by their ages,” said US attorney Ed McAndrew Tuesday at a court hearing.

Prosecutors today stated that the stolen property is worth between $100 and $200 million, though the hackers deny the claims.
