Jul, 2014 : Microsoft’s Chinese Offices Under Investigation
📅 - Microsoft is under investigation, as Chinese government officials visited four Microsoft offices in China on Monday.
According to The New York Times, authorities from the State Administration for Industry and Commerce visited the company's offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu as part of an official investigation, though no further details were given.
“We aim to build products that deliver the features, security and reliability customers expect and we're happy to answer the government's questions,” said Microsoft's public relations officer, Joanna Li.
Recently, the tech giant has been under fire from Chinese media due to security risks from Edward Snowden's government surveillance leaks.
In May government offices in Beijing banned users from installing Windows 8 on new computers after one of its broadcasters reported that the operating system was used to gain information on citizens, USA TODAY reports.
