Jul, 2014 : Keep Your Websites Secure with cPanel Security Advisor
📅 - Security should always be a big concern when you manage websites or even run an entire web server. cPanel offers a helpful tool in WHM that can scan your server for security issues, inform you when they are found, tell you how severe they are and inform you when they are resolved.
You can access Security Advisor in WHM from the home screen by navigating to Home >> Security Center >> Security Advisor. cPanel recommends that you visit the Security Advisor regularly to check for issues. It will tell you the last time that you scanned and how long the scan took. To start a new scan, just click “Scan” or “Scan Again”.
Issues are divided into four categories:
Red – Warnings – These are issues that need to be addressed immediately in order to avoid possible security intrusions or other problems with your server
Yellow – Possible Issue – These may or may not be critical issues. Further investigation is required to find out if something is wrong.
Gray – Information – These are often more like suggestions than actual security problems. Nevertheless, in many cases, following the advice can help you avoid security problems later.
Green – Resolved – These are issues that have been fixed.
When an issue is presented, WHM will usually give you instructions to fix it, and it may even provide a link to the appropriate WHM section where you can resolve it. Once you have completed whatever tasks are necessary to resolve an issue, scan your server again to ensure that the issue is fully resolved.
