May 28, 2014 : The Hosting News at Hostingcon 2014
📅 - Here at The Hosting News we have supported the international hosting trade conference, HostingCon, since it's inception 10 years ago. The Hosting News purchased an exhibitor space at the very first HostingCon in Chicago back in the day and have been strong advocates for the industry ever since. Through the evolution of both the hosting industry and the conference, The Hosting News has been participating.
The 10th Anniversary edition of HostingCon will commence on June 16th, 2014 in Florida. The show will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida and will last until June 18th. The Hosting News will of course be a featured sponsor of this year's event again. The Hosting News is a designated media partner and will be exhibiting from Booth #133. Look for our team in Miami and stop by the booth for a chat or to get your hands on some HN schwag.
Ben Fisher with The Hosting News explained what we will be up to, ”The Hosting News is going to be represented in our normal casual style, with a twist! We will be conducting some live interviews with Google Plus Hangouts On Air! Why? Because HOA's are indexed into search and can be repurposed for content marketing.
If a company would like to be interviewed in a live broadcast on YouTube and Google Plus then they can just contact me ( ben@thehostingnews.com ) before the show so we can get an interview time scheduled. What is really cool about this is, whomever participates, we will be delivering a 5 minute highlight reel and a write-up of the interview that can then be reused in any post show press releases or reused for content marketing after the show, basically enhancing your post show press efforts with enticing content.
We will be there discussing content marketing and our sister company Steady Demand, which focuses on content marketing via Google+, Hangouts On Air and how engagement enhances SEO efforts. While at the show, we will be offering some new exposure packages on the Hosting News network, as well as taking feedback on what companies would like to help them gain exposure. More importantly, we are there to build relationships (old and new). HostingCon has always been a great venue and we are really looking forward to Miami! Be sure to check us out at www.thehostingnews.com and www.google.com/+Steadydemand.”
If you are planning on attending, here are a couple of ‘must attend' events. On Monday June 16 at around 5:30 pm there will be a big 10th anniversary party at the Loews Miami Beach. Don't miss this one – free food and drinks of course – and there will be plenty of time to meet and greet hosting industry luminaries. Comodo and SpamExperts will be hosting a Yacht Party on Tuesday June 17. It's invite only – so contact Comodo or SpamExperts to get onboard!
If you haven't decided whether or not to attend this year's HostingCon event, The Hosting News asked around to our friends in the hosting business who have attended HostingCon in the past to ask them what they liked about the show, and why it is worth attending. Here's what they had to say.
As mentioned, SpamExperts are a major sponsor of this year's HostingCon event. The Hosting News caught up with Sam Renkema, Co-founder and CEO of SpamExperts to get a preview of their plans for the show. ”SpamExperts is pleased to be at the forefront of this exciting industry event, both in terms of technical and business sessions as well as social events. During the conference, SpamExperts CTO, Dreas van Donselaar will present a technology session with the theme “Email Archiving Product Analysis – The New Revenue Driver for Webhosts?”. The session will take place on Wednesday, June 18th, 10:00 – 10:45. Apart from that, SpamExperts has teamed up with industry partners for a second year co-sponsored service provider package for HostingCon 2014. SpamExperts has joined with BobCares, CloudLinux, Comodo, eBridge Marketing Solutions, Open-Xchange and Reseller Club, each participating with separate complimentary service offerings to complete an exclusively created give-away package. The prize will consist of a Premium Service Provider Package Valued at 40,000 and a GoPRO Hero 3 Camera. And last but not least, SpamExperts and Comodo are organizing an invite only Yacht Cruise on Tuesday, June 17th, setting sail at 7:00 pm aboard the luxurious Kabana Beach boat. We hope it will be one of the most sought after social events at the conference.”
Hillary and Frank Stiff have been fixtures at HostingCon for a number of years as featured speakers on hosting mergers and acquisitions. The founders of Cheval Capital had this to say about HostingCon this year, ”Our focus is in two areas; meeting more hosters and getting a chance to catch up with the hosters we already know, and trying to get a better understanding of all the changes going on in the industry. We've been fortunate to complete over 260 Hosting, IP and related purchase transactions (10+ so far this year) and are doing more financing work. We continue to see a fair amount of deal flow as well as a number of quality buyers looking to grow through acquisition.”
Lou Honick is the CEO of Host Merchant Services, a credit card payment processor catering to web hosts. Mr. Honick stated, ”HostingCon has always been a very successful venue for us to connect with partners, primarily because we understand the space so well. There will be many payment processors both attending the show and exhibiting, but none have the background and experience working in the industry that we do. Being the founder and former CEO of HostMySite.com, and having an executive team made up of former senior HostMySite.com management, provides a real edge in understanding how we can solve problems and enhance business for hosting company owners.”
Finally, Stuart Melling a co-founder of UK based web host 34SP.com suggested that anyone interested in hosting consider going to the conference, ”If you're serious about the hosting industry, and available to attend, there isn't a decision to make here. You should already have your tickets booked and suitcase packed. If you aren't mingling with your professional peers and getting a sense of the changing industry landscape, you're doing your business a massive disservice.”
