Apple Asks Courts To Ban The Sale Of Infringing Samsung Devices

📅 May 26, 2014 - Apple has asked a California court to ban the sale of Samsung devices that were found to infringe three of Apple's patents.

Apple's request, filed in U.S District Court for the Northern District of California San Jose division, includes the slide to unlock feature on home screens, automation word correction, and quick links, CNet reports.

The infringed devices include Samsung's Admire, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy S II Skyrocket, Galaxy S III, and Stratosphere phones.

According to Apple's attorney, the tech company would “suffer irreparable harm” if Samsung would continue to use the features in current and future devices.

“After the jury rejected Apple's grossly exaggerated damages claim, Apple is once again leaning on the court to push other smartphones out of the market. If granted, this would stifle fair competition and limit choice for American consumers,” said Samsung in a emailed statement.

Earlier this month a jury ruled that Samsung would pay $119.6 million to Apple for infringing three of its patents, while Samsung was awarded $158,400 for its use of its photo and video organization folders.
