Savvis, Inc., a provider of cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises, yesterday announced that it has joined forces with Bharti Airtel Limited, a global telecommunications company, to launch a major new strategic managed hosting and cloud computing initiative in India. The company says that the agreement will expand access to its wide range of managed hosting and cloud services to enterprises operating in or expanding into India. It will extend its infrastructure and service platforms in existing Airtel data centers throughout India and establish local operations teams to support both local and global clients.
It mentions that the company expects to begin the rollout of its services through Airtel's Bangalore data center in early 2011 with future expansion into other Airtel data centers located in New Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai. In addition to providing data center facilities and bandwidth capacity and network support, Airtel will resell the company's managed hosting and cloud services to India-based clients.
