Jan 17, 2007 : VeriSign Helps Market .TV Domain

📅 January 17, 2007 - Internet security solutions provider VeriSign (verisign.com) announced on Wednesday it has joined with Demand Media (demandmedia.com) to market the .tv top level domain name as the preferred Web address for rich media content.


The partnership was formed in order to leverage industry relationships and Web 2.0 expertise. VeriSign will continue to manage the underlying domain name registry for the .tv TLD, including the back end operations and management of the wholesale channel. The .tv TLD reflects the location of a Web site, as well as its content.

"By creating an intuitive destination for professional and user-generated video content, everyone from social networking communities to leading media portals can instantly attract consumers and new revenue opportunities," says Mark McLaughlin, executive VP of VeriSign. "The alliance with Demand Media will increase the global visibility of the .tv TLD and its inherent brand value."
