Apr, 2010 : Interxion Opens Second Dublin Data Center
📅 - Company's new data center will provide an additional 2,455m2 of gross space, increasing its overall capacity to 4,755m2.
Interxion, a provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centres, today announced the opening of its second Dublin data centre, DUB2, at Park West. The company avers that the expansion was required to meet growing customer demand for energy-efficient, high-power-density colocation infrastructure and outsourced managed services. It says that the new data center will provide an additional 2,455m2 of gross space, increasing its overall capacity to 4,755m2. Eamon Ryan TD, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources officially opened the new data centre on behalf of the Irish government.
The company further states that with a redundant 4 MVA grid connection, the data center supports the latest high-density power configuration requirements. It offers 2N UPS power and N+1 cooling, as well as advanced alarm and monitoring systems. Furthermore, the site has been designed using its energy-efficient modular architecture, with free cooling and maximum-efficiency components as standard. It adds that power monitoring and management systems also enable customers to monitor their power usage, streamlining their operations to optimise Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
"We would like to thank the 90+ people involved in the completion of this complex data centre construction project. The completion of the project means that we are able to further strengthen Park West's reputation as a key ICT hub and continue to meet demand for data centre space in the region, from all sectors of the market," said Tanya Duncan, Managing Director, Interxion Ireland. "Our modular build-out approach and lean infrastructure design enables us to offer energy-efficient and cost-effective data centre services, both of which are of great appeal to Irish customers. The quick uptake of our services has meant that we are already at 50 percent capacity in the new facility, which means we have been able to further enhance the PUE for the data centre."
"The Irish Government has prioritised energy efficient ICT and the establishment of new data centres in our framework for economic renewal. With our temperate climate, Ireland is one of the best locations for the construction of data centres internationally and this provides us with a real competitive advantage." said Eamon Ryan TD, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources. "Interxion has clearly recognised these advantages, in establishing its second data centre here in Park West. This is a company that is focussed on energy-efficient operations, on delivering green jobs, and I wish them the very best in their endeavours."
