Feb 3, 2010 : GigeNet Selects ParaScale Software
📅 - The company selects ParaScale software as the cloud storage platform to enhance its compute and storage cloud solution, HIVE.
ParaScale, Inc., a provider of cloud storage solutions, today announced that GigeNet, a managed dedicated hosting company, has selected ParaScale software as the cloud storage platform to power its compute and storage cloud solution, HIVE.
The company explains that there is significant opportunity for service providers in cloud computing. Analyst firm Tier1 quantifies the public cloud service market to be around $300M in 2009 and conservatively estimates 100% growth per year for the next three years. It claims that cloud storage is estimated to be approximately 40-60% of this market and customers can adopt it quickly because it doesn't require many programming tweaks to existing applications.
"We conducted a thorough evaluation of clustered software technologies and have been very pleased with our selection of ParaScale for our new HIVE cloud storage and compute offering," said Ameen Pishdadi, CFO and storage cloud project lead, GigeNet. "We are using ParaScale cloud storage as a strategic part of our virtual private server offering, as well as for backup on the virtual private servers. Using standard protocols without the need to recode applications or manually move files, and commodity hardware to create multi-petabyte storage are unique in the market. ParaScale is the best technology choice for us with outstanding service and support, and the partner most qualified to help us deliver a unique service offering."
"Overall, cloud storage is an easier economic sale for the host who can offer up his offering as an alternative to CAPEX spends on storage systems in a tight economy where data growth continues unabated," said Sajai Krishnan, CEO, ParaScale, Inc. "We are very excited to have been selected by GigeNet as the best all-around platform for service providers to pursue the rapidly evolving cloud storage opportunity."
