Aug, 2009 : HostDime Certified Under U.S.-E.U. Safe Harbor Privacy
HostDime, a web hosting provider, today announced that it has been certified under the United States-European Union Safe Harbor framework, which enables U.S. companies to comply with the E.U Data Protection Directive.
The company says that The U.S. Department of Commerce developed the Safe Harbor framework to bridge differences between U.S. and E.U. privacy law, and it is intended prevent accidental information disclosure by organizations that store customer data. The program is voluntary, adds the company.
As part of the self-certification process, HostDime modified its privacy policy to adhere to Safe Harbor's 7 key principles. Detailed guidance on these principles is available at http://www.export.gov/safeharbor/eg_main_018236.asp.
