Q9 Networks Inc, a Canadian provider of outsourced data centre infrastructure, yesterday announced that it has signed a 15-year data centre services agreement with EDS Advanced Solutions (EAS), a provider of business process and information technology outsourcing services, to support its recently announced contract with the British Columbia Ministry of Labour and Citizens' Services.
The company explains that as part of the agreement with EAS, Q9 will build and operate a new data centre in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. The high-availability facility is expected to be built in phases with an ultimate capacity of at least 3.5MW of critical power and cooling capacity. While EDS Advanced Solutions and the government of British Columbia will be anchor tenants, capacity in the new facility will also be available to other Q9 commercial customers.
It states that the Kamloops data centre is expected to include such features as outside air cooling capability to increase energy efficiency, biometric security systems, multiple connections to the Internet, redundant power, HVAC and fire suppression systems, as well as 7/24 on-site security and technical support teams.
