Mar, 2009 : KBC Arkiv Expands LCL Belgium Data Center

lcl.be logo📅 - KBC Arkiv (kbcarkiv.be), the joint subsidiary of KBC Private Equity and Arkimedes, announced on Friday it is investing $1.9 million to expand the LCL Belgium's (lcl.be) Diegem data center.

The data center will be renovated and extended to form a completely new data center, and is expected be operational in the second half of 2009.

The new Diegem data center will enable LCL Belgium to meet the growing demand from existing and new customers.

"It is partly thanks to the support of KBC Arkiv that LCL Belgium can expand the capacity of its data center," says Laurens van Reijen, managing director of LCL. "This support will enable us to meet the demand for additional capacity from both existing and new customers, utilising modern, purpose-built infrastructure that meets the highest requirements in terms of design, security and connectivity."

LCL will quadruple the facility's power and cooling capacity by building a new electrical installation and providing extra space for customers' racks and suites.

The data center will feature a new air cooling system where centrally produced cooling-water is distributed to all the servers to eliminate any hot spots.

The existing emergency power supply will be replaced by a redundant system of five new generators.

LCL also plans to install new high-voltage transformer, emergency generators and UPS.

The company says it will also make substantial improvements to the premises and grounds, including a new parking lot, access control and two conference rooms.

LCL provides data center outsourcing services from its two independent specialized data centers in Diegem and Antwerp.
