📅 - Web hosting provider ServInt (servint.net) has introduced a new line of dedicated servers that incorporate a virtualization layer, creating a high-performance application and web hosting solution ideally suited for established e-commerce sites, resellers and medium-sized companies, according to the company.
Building on Parallels' Virtuozzo platform, according to the company's Tuesday announcement, the virtualization layer helps make off-server backup easier and increases scalability by facilitating data migration from one hardware environment to another, minimizing downtime. The virtualization layer also increases redundancy, and makes dedicated servers easier to rebuild in case of hardware failure.
"Our new line of Dedicated Server solutions provides customers with optimal control, providing the resources and scalability needed to meet business growth requirements," ServInt founder and chief executive officer Reed Caldwell said in a statement. "While our virtualization layer uses Parallels Virtuozzo Containers as an engine, our proprietary methodology for hosting and managing dynamic servers ensures the highest server density, performance and availability."
ServInt said it has gained the experience to developing a virtualization layer superior to competitors, having performed thousands of dedicated server customizations since entering the industry in 1995. ServInt's new dedicated server line includes six offerings, each of which includes the virtualization layer by default.
ServInt's dedicated server offerings start at $299 per month for a Dell PowerEdge R300 server. Its top-of-the-line offering is a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with six 146 GB SAS hard drives in a RAID 10 configuration for $899 monthly.
In March 2008, ServInt introduced its new SuperVPS service, starting at $199 per month, designed to offer small and medium-sized businesses increased redundancy while providing similar computing performance to a traditional dedicated server.
