Dec 18, 2008 : BT Leases DRT Data Center Space

aabacosmallbusiness.com logo📅 - Networked IT services provider BT Global Financial Services has signed a lease with data center operator Digital Realty Trust (http://www.digitalrealtytrust.com) to establish a new Digital Realty Trust "Turn-Key Datacenter" in New York to support its global financial community customers' IT infrastructure needs.

According to Digital Realty Trust's Thursday announcement, its new Turn-Key Datacenter facility will provide BT a state-of-the-art environment for supporting its mission critical infrastructure.

"We have had the pleasure of working with BT's Global Financial Services division in the past, and it is a great validation that the company has chosen to work with us once again," Digital Realty enterprise sales division vice president Brent Behrman said in a statement. "By working with our team, companies like BT benefit from our expertise in technology real estate and data center development."

With IT load scalable from the hundreds of kilowatts range to megawatts, Digital Realty Trust's Turn-Key Datacenters are located in key North American and European markets. Built using its proprietary POD Architecture, each Turn-Key Datacenter facility is physically secure, and features a state-of-the-art power and cooling architecture optimized for green operation, using metered power to ensure clients pay only for the power they used.

Earlier in December, managed services provider Horizon Data Center Solutions (http://www.horizondcs.com) signed a Turn-Key Datacenter lease to establish a major new data center in Digital Realty Trust's Dallas facility to support its growth in the Dallas market. Horizon works with enterprise clients that run extensive enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management applications, which require significant storage and mission-critical reliability.

Digital Realty Trust has struck turn-key data center lease agreements such high profile customers as Yahoo (http://www.yahoo.com), but it also offers made-to-order facilities. In November, it signed a lease agreement with Eircom (http://www.eircom.net), Ireland's largest telecommunications supplier, for a new, ground up data center to total approximately 11,500 square meters (124,500 square feet) in Dublin, Ireland.
