📅 December 8, 2008 - Adding premium security to its environmentally friendly hosting, solar-powered web host Affordable Internet Services Online (aiso.net) is now using Sourcefire 3D System to defend its systems and customers against potential threats.

According to a Monday announcement by threat management system provider Sourcefire (sourcefire.com), its 3D System to protect AISO.Net's virtualized data center and customer web sites from attack. The Sourcefire 3D System is an intelligent, dynamic network security solution, which adapts to real-time threats and changes, before, during, and after an attack.

"The 3D System provides AISO.Net with the power, flexibility and proactive protection to secure all of its virtualized systems," Sourcefire president and chief operating officer Tom McDonough said in a statement. "This is critical as AISO.Net works to maximize customer satisfaction and website uptime."

Generating its electricity exclusively through the use of solar panels, AISO.Net built its data center, network and servers to use the lowest amount of energy possible. Its solar panels power its green data center and offices, unlike other companies that use energy credits to offset the power costs for servers or office space. AISO.Net reports an estimated power usage effectiveness score of 1, the lowest possible score for measuring energy efficiency.

AISO.Net chief executive officer Phil Nail said in a statement, "Because AISO.Net is on the cutting edge of green IT and virtualization, we required a security vendor that can keep up with this innovation. With customers throughout the Fortune 500, AISO.Net is a trusted partner with a reputation for providing top-shelf reliability, performance and customer satisfaction."

Last week, Sourcefire, ranked 309th on Deloitte's 2008 Technology Fast 500, having grown 259 percent in the past five years. Auditing, consulting, financial advisory, risk management and tax services provider Deloitte (deloitte.com) bases its annual ranking on five-year revenue growth from 2003 to 2007.

This is the second consecutive year Sourcefire placed on Deloitte's 2008 Technology Fast 500, a roster of the 500 fastest-growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in North America. IT hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com -> softlayer.com -> ibm.com) ranked 475.
