📅 November 21, 2008 - Web hosting provider Netfirms (netfirms.com ) announced on Thursday that online image editor Pixlr (pixlr.com) has selected the Netfirms Enterprise (netfirms.com/enterprise-hosting) cloud computing hosting platform to run its website.
Pixlr is a free online image editing application that enables users to create or edit an image from a hard drive or URL. The flash based application that "loads in seconds and does not slow down when editing multiple images," says Pixlr, even with thousands of users online at once.

In order to appeal to an international audience, the website is now available in over ten languages, increasing its traffic load. Launched in August, Pixlr has already had over 1 million visitors, thanks to the promotion of online blogs and forums.

Initially, the website's single server setup was not designed to handle the unpredictable and high traffic spikes. Once this single server setup began to hinder the application's performance, Pixlr sought after a new hosting solution and selectedNetfirms for its Enterprise cloud hosting expertise.

Now hosted on Netfirm's cloud computing hosting platform, which is powered by hundreds of servers, the Pixlr application will run smoothly even during traffic spikes, says Netfirms.
