📅 November 13, 2008 - Reducing cost and administrative hastle for Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Office Communications Server 2007 certificate implementations and administration, Internet security company Comodo (comodo.com) has launched three-year Unified Communications Certificates.


According to the company's Wednesday announcement, Comodo's digital UCCs starting at $285.00 provide high visibility, recognition and security for unified communications and business email services. They also make Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Office Communications Server 2007 administration "easier and more flexible than ever before," because they are now available in multi-year terms.

"Microsoft Exchange is the most popular business messaging platform in the world," Comodo chief executive officer and security architect Melih Abdulhayoglu said in a statement. "Comodo is one of a select group of Certificate Authorities that can offer these certificates, compatible with Microsoft Exchange,"

Comodo's UCCs are designed to let users access all the features of the two applications, making extensive use of SSL certificates supporting the Subject Alternative Name (or SAN) field. They also give administrators the flexibility to secure client-server and server-server communications while supporting multiple Exchange and Office Communications 2007 services with a single UC Certificate including Outlook Web Access, SMTP-TLS, Auto-Discovery, ActiveSync and Outlook Anywhere.

Traditional SSL certificates only provide security for a single, fully-qualified domain name, and Wildcard certificates only first-level subdomains; however, one Comodo UCC can be used to secure multiple domain names, host names and server applications. Comodo's UCCs also offer unlimited certificate re-issuance when changes are made to domain names.
