📅 - A snatched wallet or cracked password are all a criminal needs to steal an identity, however, IT security provider Comodo Group (comodo.com) has launched ID TheftSmart to fight identity theft by alerting subscribers to five different types of suspicious credit activity in their credit file.
According to Comodo's announcement Tuesday, ID TheftSmart emails reports if a thief attempts to open a credit line in the subscriber's name. If a malicious attempt is found, a licensed investigator will help restore the end-user's credit and identity to its pre-theft status.
More than 9 million Americans are victims of identity theft each year according to a US Federal Trade Commission 2007 report cited by Comodo.
In addition to ID TheftSmart and security software, Comodo offers PKI SSL, code signing, content verification, email certificates, PCI Compliance vulnerability scanning services, and secure email and fax services.
In late September, Comodo announced new channels to offer more reseller options for the company's products including partner program levels of Platinum, Gold and Silver.
