Oct 2, 2008 : UK-2 Group Buys Dotable

📅 October 2, 2008 - The UK-2 Group (uk2.net ) has acquired community-focused Web host Dotable (dotable.com -> midphase.com), bringing with it over 10,000 domains to the British hosting giant.

According to UK-2's announcement Thursday, founder Robert Walker, widely known in the industry as "Aussie Bob," will remain in charge of Toowoomba, Queensland-based Dotable.com as general manager. UK-2 plans to keep Dotable's community feel including is its robust and active forums, "which have made users feel more like part of a community than customers," the release stated.

"Dotable.com has really captured a winning formula in the market and is a demonstration of the power of community in building a high quality company," said Nick Nelson, UK-2 Group's US director of sales and marketing to will overseeing the Dotable's operations for UK-2. "We are going to insure that this situation remains intact and grows under the UK-2 umbrella,"

A major British hosting provider since the late nineties, UK-2 Group provides worldwide domain registration and hosting services to customers through its family of hosting brands including UK2.net, US2.net and Resell.biz.

"I believe this decision strengthens Dotable in the marketplace, and pushes the Dotable brand forward," said Walker. "The UK-2 Group gives Dotable benefits in greatly increased buying power, increased staffing and the ability to pass on some amazing offers to our clients. The aim is to keep that friendly feel of Dotable, with the strength of a major company now behind us."

Dotable is the latest in a long line of acquisitions including midPhase (midphase.com ) and Stargate (stargate.com). In late July, UK-2 Group bought hosting company WingSix (wingsix.com -> midphase.com).
