Mar 5, 2007 : Hostedtoday Launches Green Offering
📅 - Web hosting provider Hostedtoday (hostedtoday.com) announced on Monday it will begin planting trees for every new sign up in an effort to become carbon neutral.
Hostedtoday says it has come forward with this initiative to help the environment and hopes this program will start a trend among other technology and Internet companies.
Hostedtoday has chosen to combat greenhouse gas emissions through arboriculture, or tree care, and will plant a tree for every new customer signup. According to studies, trees absorb carbon dioxide while they grow and trap it for years to come. On average, over 30 years, one tree planted will absorb 230kg of CO2.
The company adds that going carbon neutral is an easy way for companies to contribute to solving a global problem by taking responsibility for the carbon dioxide emissions they create with their energy use.
