📅 March 7, 2007 - Dedicated hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com -> softlayer.com -> ibm.com) announced on Wednesday it has introduced special promotional pricing on the Dell PowerEdge 1435 series servers based on the AMD Opteron 2212 dual-core processor technology.

With savings of up to $50 per month, the servers are available in the company's six data centers located in both Houston and Dallas, Texas. The Dual AMD Opteron servers feature two dual-core configurations with options for SATA II or SAS hard disk drives. These servers are designed for customers with high-transaction e-commerce Web sites, databases and multiple dynamic Web sites.

"Customers consistently weigh their business requirements and budget when they look to purchase new servers," says Urvish Vashi, The Planet's director of product management. "The Dual Opteron servers provide a balanced price-performance equation for SMBs that combines powerful dual-core performance with attractive, competitive price points. Both configurations offer the latest AMD-based processor technology and The Planet's network and bandwidth reliability for a complete on demand IT infrastructure."

The Planet also recently announced the availability of the Dell PowerEdge 2900 based on Intel's quad-core Clovertown technology for SMB customers looking for enterprise-level performance and storage. The servers are offered at an introductory price of $1,099 per month.
