📅 April 25, 2008 - Rackpace (rackspace.com ) , which recently dropped the "managed hosting" from its name to begin promoting its services as "hosted IT services," announced on Thursday that it would be providing managed hosting for Pro-Teck Services, a company described as a property valuation specialist.

The Intensive Hosting product Rackspace will reportedly be supplying to Pro-Teck is the company's more consultative managed hosting offering. Rackspace's website describes a relationship in the Intensive Hosting context where Rackspace engineers become an essential part of the customer's IT department.

Pro-Teck's platform, known as ProValue, connects financial institutions with real estate data and modeling in order to help them manage their real estate collateral. The application requires the ability to support a large number of simultaneous connections and to process thousands of transactions per day.

The press release offers up some of the standard "we-chose-them-because" type boilerplate.

"We did a lot of due diligence and determined Rackspace could provide us with the highest level of disaster recovery and system redundancy to protect our clients information while providing the scalability and capacity to support our growth," says Pro-Teck VP of security and infrastructure Luc Levensohn.

The news arrives amid some speculation that Rackspace may be looking into filing IPO papers, even in the next few days. Technology blog TechCrunch reported today that a tipster it coundn't identify had said the company might file the appropriate papers with the SEC as soon as today or Monday.

TechCrunch also pointed out that press releases that included the company's recent earnings appear to have been taken down from the Rackspace website.
