Apr 22, 2008 : Internic Registered One-Millionth .ca
The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (cira.ca), a not-for-profit organization that manages Canada's .ca domain name registry, announced on April 15 that Canadian Internet users have registered one million .ca domain names, demonstrating the country's strong Internet presence and the popularity of Canadian websites.
The one-millionth dot-ca domain name, krauslaw.ca, was registered by Brent Krause of Calgary, Alberta, a customer of Internic who is using the domain for a website that promotes his private law practice.
"On the advice of my Web designer, I decided to register several domain names relating to my law firm to make sure existing and potential clients could find me," says Krause. "I've been registering .ca names with Internic.ca since 2000. Their competitive prices, user-friendly registration, and great reputation with Canadian businesses make it an easy choice."
A subsidiary of Momentous.ca, Internic says it was the first .ca accredited registrar and serves clients from government agencies, law firms, financial institutions, packaged goods producers and small businesses.
