👈 Official Responses: 0) announced on Tuesday that it is sponsoring WordCamp Dallas, a two-day event hosted by blogging software tool provider WordPress (wordpress.com). The conference is scheduled to run from March 29 to 30 in Frisco, Texas and is limited to the first 300 attendees that register.


Launched in 2003, WordPress is a popular open source blogging tool used by many businesses to communicate more candidly with clients and can be used for free off of the WordPress.com website or installed onto a company's server from WordPress.org. Many Web hosting providers have also gotten into the practice of bundling WordPress blogs into their hosting packages.

Layered Technologies describes WordCamp as a "conference for podcasters, designers, programmers, aficionados, users and developers, where the first day will focus on how to be a better blogger and the second day will discuss the development and future of publishing on the Web."

The agenda for WordCamp includes expert panels and presentations on the business of blogging, SEO for blogging, ways to power up your blog and how to prevent, detect and stop content theft of your blog. Amongst others, one of the presenters during the event will be Layered Tech's chief marketing officer, John Pozadzides, as well as WordPress founding developer, Matt Mullenweg.

"WordCamp is a great venue for us to interact with the WordPress community," says Todd Abrams, president and COO of Layered Tech. "It is also a great opportunity for us to reach out to other Web 2.0 companies and bloggers and let them know how we can help them create an infrastructure that will scale to their demands and provide instant new computing capacity without capital expenditures."

Abrams says the sponsorship seems to be a natural reciprocation of the existing relationship between the two companies as a majority of WordPress' infrastructure is currently hosted on Layered Technologies' servers. Mullenweg also spoke on a panel at Layered Technologies' annual partner event, LTPact, last year.

Layered Technologies' upcoming LTPact 2008 is scheduled to run from June 25 to 27 in Las Vegas, Nevada and will cover a range of topics including security, dedicated hosting, utility, virtualization, SaaS-based models and applications, marketing and social networking platforms and uses.
