📅 March 16, 2007 - Domain name management provider NetNames (netnames.com) announced on Friday it has been appointed to help protect PC manufacturer Gateway's (gateway.com) online business. Gateway is the third largest PC manufacturer in the US and among the top ten worldwide.

NetNames' platinum service, which manages the domain name portfolios for a third of the FTSE 100 companies, will protect vital Web site addresses used for marketing Gateway's computer systems and also the Web site addresses that are critical to the company's online business and customer service operations.

Prior to appointing NetNames, Gateway's domain name portfolio had been distributed among a number of different providers making it difficult to manage and monitor for potential threats. NetNames' Platinum Service will centralize the management of all Gateway's domain names, enabling better visibility of any potential threats from cybersquatters and ensure that vital domain names vital to Gateway's online business are always renewed.

"Failing to renew or allowing important domain names to fall into the wrong hands can not only do a brand major damage, but also threaten to bring entire sales operations to a halt," says Jonathan Robinson, chief operating officer for NetNames. "NetNames Platinum Service will ensure Gateway's key domain names are well protected and will monitor for any threats."
