Nov 28, 2007 : Green House Opens Green Facility

📅 November 28, 2007 - Managed hosting provider Green House Data (greenhousedata.com) announced on Tuesday that it is planning on developing Wyoming's first commercial enterprise-class data center facility in Cheyenne. The company says its facility will be 60 percent more energy efficient than comparably sized data centers.


The new facility will be one of the nation's only 100 percent renewable energy powered data centers, says Green House Data, and will be located 90 miles north of Denver, Colorado and 45 miles away from the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University.

Although that sounds like it would be expensive, the company says it's exactly the opposite because besides using wind and solar power it is also investing in energy efficient technologies in order to become a low cost facility that also happens to have a zero carbon footprint.

"We are really excited to launch Green House Data in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This first 10,000 square foot prototype facility will be the headquarters for the company's planned nationwide expansion," says Shawn Mills, president of Green House Data. "The business climate, broadband infrastructure, renewable wind energy availability and rural nature make this the perfect proving ground."
