📅 November 20, 2007 - Dedicated hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com -> softlayer.com -> ibm.com) announced on Tuesday that it has launched a new dedicated backup server pricing promotion on servers equipped with R1Soft's CDPServer continuous data protection software. Customers will be able to purchase backup options from as low as $0.23 per gigabyte until January 14, 2008.

The Planet says that the feature-rich backup solution offers a perfect fit for small to large businesses with mission-critical, intense data storage needs. With unique delegated administration functionality provided on its dedicated backup servers, the new R1Soft solution is also ideal for resellers looking to provide backup to their customers in a cost-effective, self-service model, says the company.

The Planet also launched a special Dual Xeon promotion, which lasts until January 14, designed to help e-commerce customers prepare for the Cyber Monday onslaught. The promotion offers up to 43 percent savings and enables customers to purchase servers on-demand from one of the company's most popular portfolio selections, says The Planet.

"Cyber Monday sets the pace for on-line holiday shopping, and each year it exceeds market projections," says Urvish Vashi, director of product management with The Planet. "To power up for the holidays, we're offering our best-ever pricing on the Dell Dual Xeon servers, which helps our customers prepare for what looks to be another season of unprecedented demand."
