Nov 19, 2007 : Comodo Releases SecureEmail Beta

instantssl.com logo📅 - IT security solutions provider Comodo (comodo.com) announced on Thursday that it launched the beta version of SecureEmail, a PKI-based solution that enables outgoing emails to be encrypted and digitally signed so that recipients can be assured that the email has not been tampered with during transmission and is coming from a trusted source.

Featuring full integration with Outlook, Thunderbird and other major mail clients, SecureEmail features a built-in wizard that enables users to easily download and setup a free Comodo email certificate. Home users will benefit from the security of automatic encryption and signing of their email while the application handles difficult or hard to remember processes such as public- key exchange. Network administrators looking to implement total client-to-client email security can use Comodo SecureEmail as a complement to any existing gateway encryption process, says the company.

"SecureEmail is another addition to our comprehensive suite of desktop security solutions to enable secure communications and computing," says Melih Abdulhayoglu, CEO and chief security architect of Comodo. "It is our passion to create solutions that enable people to communicate, collaborate and access the Internet confidently. SecureEmail is a worthy addition to our other award-winning free solutions including Comodo Firewall Pro and Comodo BOClean."

Comodo says it is offering this solution free to help accelerate market adoption of the practice of signing and encrypting email communications to protect users from the inherent vulnerability of sending email over the Internet.

Earlier this month Comodo released Trustix Enterprise Firewall version 4.8, a free enterprise class LINUX-based firewall solution.
