Ensim and Compaq Extend Hosting Automation Project to Asia-Pacific

📅 - Ensim Corporation (http://www.ensim.com), the dominant hosting automation provider, and Compaq Computer Corporation (http://www.compaq.com) announced at the CommunicAsia trade show on Tuesday, that they have worked out an expansion of their agreement that initiates a joint sales program in Asia Pacific to deliver greater Microsoft Windows 2000 and Linux server automation.

The thrust of the new program is the effective regional packaging of Ensim's flagship product, ServerXchange(TM), with Compaq ProLiant(TM) servers and storage. The original worldwide joint marketing agreement for automated hosting solutions was announced in April 2001.
In the growing Asia-Pacific market, a joint Ensim and Compaq sales team will call on prospective customers, including telecommunications carriers, Internet data centers and hosting providers. The companies say their joint solution will enable hosting providers in the region to rapidly scale and effectively manage their server infrastructures to meet forecasted high growth.
International Data Corp. expects shared and dedicated hosting revenues in Asia Pacific to grow from nearly $1.75 billion in 2002 to approximately $4 billion by 2004. In addition, IDC has recently reported on the region's high proportion of businesses currently on the Web such as Korea with some 90% of business Web penetration, Taiwan and Australia at about 80%, Singapore and the Philippines at some 70%, and the People's Republic of China approaching 80%.
``Ensim has extraordinary momentum in Asia Pacific, where service providers are aggressively adopting hosting automation to improve the economics of server infrastructures and quickly deploy reseller plans,'' says Effendy Shahul-Hamid, Ensim's managing director, Asia Pacific. ``Working in conjunction with Compaq, and based on our first-hand experiences, we expect the combined solution to be widely and rapidly adopted in the region for Linux and Windows 2000 server implementations.''
vAccording to the companies, the point-and-click interface of Ensim ServerXchange combined with proven ProLiant management tools will greatly reduce from hours to minutes the provisioning and management of servers, including the operating system and application layer. In turn, hosting providers will be able to shift valuable skilled resources towards activities that create competitive differentiation such as world-class support, self-administration down to the end-user, and value-added services.
