Nov, 2001 : Ensim, Macromedia Announce Distribution Agreement
📅 - Hosting automation provider Ensim (ensim.com), and Macromedia (macromedia.com) the provider of the popular ColdFusion Web hosting environment, announced a distribution agreement yesterday. This new agreement will allow ServerXchange-enabled providers to host sites developed in the ColdFusion environment, allowing greater flexibility for Web hosts.
ColdFusion is an e-commerce and website design and hosting engine originally created by Allaire, who merged with Macromedia in March 2001. It features an intuitive tag-based programming language named CFML (ColdFusion Markup Language). Since its original development, ColdFusion has been steadily gaining in popularity.
"Web site developers have clearly put their weight behind ColdFusion, and so it's the next logical step for Ensim to give our customers the ability to host sophisticated Web sites that hold the greatest potential to increase their revenue," said Sandip Gupta, vice president of business development at Ensim.
"Macromedia is excited to work with ServerXchange to provide Web hosts with an efficient and scalable platform to deploy and manage hosted ColdFusion Web sites," added Mike Bergeron, vice president of business development at Macromedia.
Macromedia is based in San Francisco, and has over 1,700 employees worldwide. Ensim is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with sales offices in the United States and London, England.
