📅 November 9, 2001 - Building on the proven methodology of its successful Cluster Platform 220/1000, Sun Microsystems, Inc. (sun.com) announced yesterday itsnext-generation, entry-level Cluster Platform 280/3, which providessignificantly greater memory and storage flexibility. This is the fourthoffering to be added to the family of SunTone Cluster Platforms.

Powered by redundant UltraSPARC III chip-based Sun Fire 280R servers andhighly scalable, mirrored Sun StorEdge T3 arrays, the pre-integrated andtested Cluster Platform 280/3 is designed to provide high availability withSun Cluster 3.0's failover protection and load balancing technologies whiledecreasing complexity via a single, integrateable stack. Sun's integrateableplatform, unlike other system vendors, provides a building-block approach tocustomer solutions. As a result, delivery is accelerated and customerdeployment times have been cut by up to 80 percent, which ultimately canequate to better customer TCO.
