Global Crossing Signs $700 Million Deal With CSC Robert Marks

📅 November 9, 2001 - Communications firm Global Crossing Ltd. (globalcrossing.com) said yesterday it had signed a twelve-year contract with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), a major consulting and IT services firm with over 60,000 employees worldwide. The agreement, which is worth $700 million, will see Global Crossing manage CSC's (csc.com) global wide area data and voice network.
One of the reasons for the deal is Global Crossing's fiber optic infrastructure and range of advanced IP services, which will be used to provide WAN, IP VPN, and converged data and voice services to CSC. This will expand CSC's network reach, as Global Crossing currently has a managed worldwide IP network.
This is not the first time CSC and Global Crossing have been partners; during the first quarter of 2001, the CSC network began deploying on the Global Crossing backbone. This new agreement is the first step in a plan for both companies to co-market their services to multinational enterprises. Global Crossing will provide worldwide services, while CSC will provide LAN management.

Van B. Honeycutt, CSC's Chairman and CEO, was very pleased with the deal, stating that it will it will expand the company's reach considerably. "This helps us fulfill our own as well as our customers' needs for end-to-end, fully managed solutions," he said. "In turn, we enable new applications for our customers to ensure that they get their own products and services to market more quickly."
