📅 - Data center automation software developer BladeLogic (bladelogic.com) announced on Monday the launch of BladeLogic Virtualization Manager, a new software solution enabling seamless management of physical and virtual computing platforms.
BladeLogic says Virtualization Manager, a new module in the BladeLogic Operations Manager suite of data center automation solutions, contains functions for browsing, provisioning, patching, auditing, remediating, administering and managing virtual servers.
Virtualization Manager offers a single interface and unified policy for virtual and physical server environments and native support for tasks like provisioning and deleting virtual machines, with built-in auditing capabilities, granular role-based access control and integrated packaging and remediation of virtual host and machine configurations to enable easy portability and resource tuning across servers and data centers.
"While virtualization technology makes it easier to address important initiatives such as server consolidation, the proliferation of virtualization significantly exacerbates the overall challenge of managing today's data center computing resources," says Vijay Manwani, CTO of BladeLogic. "BladeLogic Virtualization Manager's ability to perform sophisticated management tasks in a virtualized environment provides IT organizations with a single platform for managing both virtual and physical server environments, with the goal of supporting more rapid adoption of virtualization with less risk and lower costs."
Online movie rental service Netflix recently selected BladeLogic's data center automation solutions as the platform for automating its IT infrastructure.
