📅 - IBM (ibm.com) has announced that Towers Perrin (towers.com), a management consulting firm, has selected IBM's Quick Start e-procurement service to automate corporate purchasing operations on the Internet. The utility computing agreement with IBM will enable Towers Perrin to securely link to an online global network of more than 30,000 suppliers, providing immediate procurement efficiencies.
IBM's Quick Start e-procurement service combines the Ariba Buyer softwareapplication with hosting management expertise from IBM Global Services toautomate Towers Perrin's purchasing process from requisition to payment.Designed to get online buying systems up and running quickly, Quick Startcan be tailored by IBM to match a company's individual buying patterns.

The IBM Global Services-optimized solution for Towers Perrin features IBMDB2 Universal Database software running on IBM eServer xSeries systems in anIBM-hosted environment. Tivoli Storage manager 4.2 is used as part of theQuick Start service for routine backup of critical data.
