TRW Announces Systems Hosting for Pharmaceutical, Healthcare Apps
📅 - TRW Inc. (trw.com) has introduced outsourced hostingservices to help pharmaceutical and healthcare companies comply withinternational and Food & Drug Administration information-technologyregulations.
TRW's Regulated System Hosting services combine technology infrastructureand associated services to support compliance with new Federal regulatoryrequirements, which include specific documentation, processes andoperational services. These new regulations include Title 21 CFR Part 11(FDA: Electronic Records, Electronic Signatures) and HIPAA (HealthcareInsurance Portability & Accountability Act).
The service is being offered by TRW Systems, a $3.2 billion business unit ofTRW based in Reston, Va., that provides systems, services and informationtechnology to government and industry.
TRW provides consulting and technical support services to several of theindustry's largest pharmaceutical firms, contract research organizations,biotech firms and to public sector activities such as the FDA and TheCenters for Disease Control.

"Pharma customers face long implementationcycles and additional IT and deployment costs associated with systemsvalidation and compliance not seen in other industries. We have seen atremendous increase in interest in the delivery of Argus Safety Web, ourWeb-based drug safety software solution, via a turnkey hosted model," saidDave Bajaj, president and CEO of Relsys.
TRW's service includes seven areas to support regulated applications:platform availability, platform infrastructure, administration andmaintenance, monitoring, business continuity, validation and qualityassurance, and customer service and support. The service agreement includesthe networking, data center, hardware and operating software necessary tosupport Web and client-server applications. Additional services such assupport for digital signatures, user authentication, XML integration,electronic regulatory submissions, disaster recovery and active archivemanagement will be available in three to six months.
