👈 Official Responses: 0), a technical service provider,has announced that it completed its acquisition of Lightning InternetServices (lightning.net), a New York-based ISP. Hurricane Electric has acquired the rights to all of Lightning Internet Services facilities, customers, equipment and the option to assume specific contracts.

"By acquiring Lightning Internet Services, we can now broaden ourco-location and Web hosting services to New York and surrounding areas,"said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. "This acquisition willallow us to better serve our customers on the East Coast and in Europe withthe addition of offices and personnel in New York," he added.
Existing customers of Lightning should not experience any interruption ofservices or problems associated with the acquisition, the company said.Rates for existing customers will remain the same; however, LightningInternet Services' customers will have newer higher bandwidth optionsavailable to them, some at a reduced rate.
Hurricane Electric's national network, which consists of connections inseven exchange points, will be augmented by Lightning Internet Services'existing network. Lightning Internet Services operated their own nationalnetwork with a concentration on the East Coast.
The acquisition adds offices in Mineola, NY and Farmingdale, NY to HurricaneElectric's existing facilities in San Jose, CA and Fremont, CA along withequipment in New York, Washington DC, and Sunnyvale, CA and San Jose, CA.
Lightning Internet Services was formed in 1998 as a full-service CorporateNetwork Solutions company specializing in co-location, direct Internetconnections and DSL. Hurricane Electric will continue to offer DSL,co-location and direct Internet connections in New York and surroundingareas.
