Feb, 2002 : AppliedTheory improves services for New York City

📅 February 13, 2002 - AppliedTheory an Internet knowledge, development and managed hosting partner for hundreds of large corporations and government agencies, announced today it will be providing expanded Internet services for the duration of its contract with the New York City Department of Information, Technology and Telecommunication (NYCDoITT). The city agency has been an AppliedTheory customer since 1999.

Founded in 1985, AppliedTheory will increase the city's bandwidth and redundancy in order meet the needs of new online services and communications initiatives. NYCDoITT also requires increased Internet service to support the high number of New York City residents who are turning to the city's Web. AppliedTheory will also provide contingency backup hosting strategies for emergency situations, as it did hours after the September 11 attacks, to provide emergency updates and information.
Agencies effected by the contract include: the New York City Department of Health, the New York City Department of Transportation, the New York City Board of Education, and New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.
"Our record of success in servicing government customers' Internet needs drives AppliedTheory's recurring revenue base and allows us to leverage tremendous expertise in helping large enterprises move the Internet to the core of their operations," said Danny E. Stroud, CEO of AppliedTheory.
