The latest in VeriSign's suiteof secure messaging services, SecureExpress employs VeriSign'sauthentication services, including its managed PKI services, digitalsignature, encryption and roaming technologies. Developed in partnershipwith Slam Dunk Networks, SecureExpress enables companies and individuals tosend confidential communications quickly and securely.

Currently, overnight letters and envelopes account for the largest portionof all domestic air shipments in the United States, representing 44.6percent of total shipments. However, the physical delivery systemstransporting these documents offer none of the safeguards embedded in onlinesecure messaging or any of the conveniences of real-time delivery.
By eliminating the need for both senders and receivers to have their owndigital certificates, SecureExpress streamlines messaging and eliminatescost burdens for businesses and individuals receiving secure messages. Userscan send and receive messages from their desktop, portable laptop, or homecomputer with greater security than in the physical world.
The SecureExpress service is available at secureexpress.verisign.com wherecustomers may enroll in the service directly, learn more about how to sendand receive secure messages, and contact VeriSign with other questions.SecureExpress will also be available through VeriSign partner channelsdomestically and internationally and through VeriSign's sales team.
VeriSign will issue a digital certificate with a validated e-mail address toeach subscriber. The digital ID is used to sign and encrypt data sentthrough the SecureExpress service which acts as a third party to identifythe holder of an e-mail address, assure the recipient that the message ordocument attached has not been tampered with, and facilitate the encryptionand decryption of messages and documents.
SecureExpress protects online correspondence by leveraging VeriSign's PKItechnology, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Secure Multi-Purpose Internet MailExtensions (S/MIME) standards. SecureExpress uses service delivery andmessaging technology from Slam Dunk Networks, incorporating technology fromTumbleweed Communications.
VeriSign offers two types of subscriber membership for the SecureExpressservice: Full membership and receive-only membership. Full membership allowssubscribers to send and receive secure messages through SecureExpress. Thefree receive-only membership allows subscribers to receive messages throughSecureExpress.
