Feb, 2002 : Intel Introduces New Hyper-Threading Technology


📅 - Intel Corp., (intel.com) today announced a new, faster version of its Xeon processors that powers lower-end servers.

The Xeon processors, which are its first server chips to use Hyper-threading technology to speed performance, are geared towards servers that have two processors each.
Enhancing performance by 80 percent above currently available two-way servers, the Hyper-threading technology and its Netburst chip design use Intel Xeon chips. The chips are produced to work with double-processor servers--most often used to serve up Web pages and as e-mail servers.
