Mar, 2002 : Global Crossing Sues XO for Severing Service

📅 March 6, 2002 - Global Crossing Inc. (globalcrossing.com), a currentlybankrupt high-speed network provider, has filed a lawsuit against XOCommunications Inc. (xo.com -> akamai.com) after the compering carrier cut off Global Crossing's access to its network, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

This was the first major interruption of service for customers of theBermuda-based Global Crossing, the newspaper said.
In the lawsuit, Global Crossing asked a bankruptcy judge to order XO torenew service for the affected customers immediately. The company said inthe suit that more than 120 customers in the U.S. used XO lines to accessservices.
The suit alleged that XO was reciprocating a decision by Global Crossing tohalt its services on Feb. 28 for not paying a delinquent bill, according tothe report. Neither Global Crossing nor XO spokespersons were available forfurther comment.
