Apr, 2002 : Rackspace Announces Full Year of Profitability, Uptime

📅 April 2, 2002 - Texas-based Rackspace Managed Hosting (rackspace.com ) said yesterday that the end of March 2002 marked a full year of financial profitability and 12 months of 100% network uptime for the company.

Rackspace, which specializes in providing managed Web hosting services to SMEs and enterprises, said it would offer a number of promotional features to users and new customers throughout April to mark the milestone. Planned promotions include lowered setup fees and reduced rates on year-long contracts.
Graham Weston, Rackspace's co-chairman and CEO, credited the company's focus on technical support as the main reason for the company's success. "The industry has been built on a utility mindset from its telecom roots. The resulting offerings have included poor service experiences," he said. "Rackspace made the commitment from the very beginning to make an amazing customer experience the cornerstone of this company."
Founded in 1998, Rackspace manages over 5,000 servers in 80 countries. The company operates data centers in San Antonio, Texas and London.
