Jun, 2002 : Terremark Announces NAP De Las Americas-Madrid

📅 June 21, 2002 - Carrier-neutral Tier-1 NAP operator Terremark Worldwide, Inc. (Terremark.com ) announced this week that it has formed a new company that will own and operate a carrier-neutral Tier-1 NAP in Madrid, as well as other data centers throughout Spain.

According to Terremark, the new company, NAP de las Americas-Madrid S.A., has completed the purchase of 5 million shares of Terremark common stock for $5,000,000. The transaction is part of the agreement between Terremark and the Comunidad Autonoma de Madrid to develop carrier-neutral network access points in Spain.
The new company, says Terremark, was created for the purpose of owning and operating a facility in Spain modeled after Terremark's NAP of the Americas, located in Miami.
Terremark says it will provide technical and operational know-how to assist in the development of an interim NAP that will be operational this summer. The company will work with NAP de las Americas-Madrid S.A. to locate a permanent site as well as design the NAP and assist with ongoing operations of the business.
Prior to the agreement, Terremark operated TerreNAP data centers in Miami, Florida and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

📅 Feb 9, 2009 - Terremark Delays Building in Santa Clara - Terremark Worldwide (terremark.com ) announced on Monday it has decided to delay the building of a data center in Santa Clara, California, focusing its development budget dollars instead on its data center in Virginia, the NAP of the Capital Region, according to a report by Data Center Knowledge.

The company says it is seeing significant demand for colocation and managed hosting services at the Culpeper, Virginia facility.

Last month, Terremark began offering its full suite of managed solutions at the NAP of the Capital Region following the completed deployment of its Infinistructure utility-computing platform.
