Jul, 2002 : Tucows, GeoTrust Partner for Enhanced Security

📅 July 10, 2002 - Service provider to ISPs and hosting companies Tucows Inc. (tucows.com) and certificate authority GeoTrust Inc. (GeoTrust.com) announced on Tuesday that they have formed a strategic partnership in order to deliver secure e-commerce transactions, identity verification and trust authentication services through Tucows? network of more than 5,000 resellers.

According to the agreement, Tucows will offer GeoTrust's QuickSSL, True Site and True BusinessID solutions to its reseller network. Tucows says it began offering the True BusinessID service, a traditional SSL certificate product, on July 3 of this year. The company plans to introduce QuickSSL and True BusinessID Wildcard in the fourth quarter.
"By partnering with GeoTrust, we believe Tucows is positioned to offer our resellers a full suite of affordable Internet security solutions designed specifically to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses," said Elliot Noss, president and chief executive officer, Tucows Inc. GeoTrust's True BusinessID combines traditional SSL certificates with the True Site offering, which guarantees a site's legitimacy with a dynamically generated date and time stamp. The True BusinessID Wildcard solution secures multiple Web sites with one SSL certificate, and the QuickSSL product offers 128-bit SSL digital certificates in as little as 10 minutes.
