Feb 17, 2003 : Rackspace Hosts Make Friends Online

📅 February 17, 2003 - Managed Web hosting service provider Rackspace Managed Hosting Europe (Rackspace.co.uk -> rackspace.com) announced this week that it has signed an agreement to provide managed hosting services for online dating community Make Friends Online (MFO) (makefriendsonline.com).

MFO, says Rackspace, was started in 1998 by the co-founders of Web applications development company Primary Drive, and has grown through word of mouth into a popular online dating community. Traffic has been doubling every three months for the past nine months, says Rackspace. The site now serves more than 100,000 members who spend an average of 15 minutes per session online.
With a large and growing membership, says Rackspace, MFO found it had outgrown the infrastructure it had originally implemented for hosting the site, and the company began looking for a Web hosting solution that could meet the increased demand.
After investigating a range of managed hosting providers, the site's founders chose to work with Rackspace Managed Hosting Europe, because of its technical know-how, enthusiastic support staff and flexible solutions and contracts.
"It's always great when we have the opportunity to change the mind of a new customer, who has had bad hosting experiences in the past with other ISPs," says Dominic Monkhouse, managing director Rackspace Managed Hosting Europe, "and show them that good customer service does exist within the Web hosting industry and that it's possible to find the perfect Web hosting match."
