I have hosted with WebHost4Life for many years, had several domains there from me and a few customers. Response was good, tech quality good.

That was until one day I was hit with the news about a HUGE migration (apparently of customers). I was given a target date but months passed before ANY of my accounts were migrated. One migrated OK because it had just bare bones stuff on it.

The other was migrated months overdue and it was a total disaster. They "lost" my referral fee balance (how convenient) but later got restored because I complained. The whole system was a mess, even today what they display on the control panel does not match the actual system. The whole application was down (my site!) because they broke everything! Took them quite a while to kind of rectify the situation and in doing so they restored an older version that was infected by a previous hack that was done on my site. As a result I was grey listed at google.

After the migration things were very slow, some stuff had been lost (but ok, I could live without it) and I had to spend quite some time rectifying what they shouldn't have done in the first place.

Now tech support is utterly deficient and SLOOOOW. So how convenient that now there is a "hint" that you could get faster support by paying a fee-per-event! believe me, not worth it as their support staff has little knowledge of what they are doing.

Previously you could create an allow/deny list of IP addresses to control from which location(s) you could FTP from. This was great help at fencing off hackers. Well, with the "new" platform there is no such feature. When I pointed it out they had no idea what I meant (or how useful it was) and said there were no plans to have it added as it was not necessary.

Along the same lines of security, in the old platform they knew how to support customer's encrypting sensitive sections (passwords/connection strings) in their ASP.NET web.config files. Guess what, the "new" support team has no idea what I was talking about so now you can't do it, if someone breaks in (remember, no FTP allow/deny...) then so much easier to steal more passwords!.

Needless to say, within a couple of months two of my sites got defaced.

To top things I have had a recurring issue on my system without me doing anything for it to happen. In the previous ocassions (after migration) they fixed it within a reasonable time. Now it has happened again and my site has been inoperative for about a week. Now they say my application is incompatible (if so, why had it been working fine since 2010Q3?) and they cannot resolve it.

The new system is terrible, slow and the tech support staff is not really knowleadgeable and even when the issue gets "prioritized" little seems to happen. Their terms say they would fix issues within 24-48 hours and that time is WAY OVERDUE. I have fulfilled my terms of the contract by paying them for the service, expecting service and working hosting in return but they have not been capable of fulfilling their end.

It is a shame that a system that was so fine for so many years can degrade so quickly into something you would not recommend even to your enemies.

If you read good reviews about them, most likely it was from the times when it was managed by the previous owner prior to the migration. Now STAY AWAY. This is sad, I would have liked to stay with them but with this level of quality and service that is simply not possible.
